RESIDENCE - MUSEUM OF ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS
The fatherly house of Eleftherios Venizelos in Halepa of Chania, was his home of residence for more than thirty years, from 1880 to 1910 and later for short periods from 1927 to 1935. Today, it has been restored to its original state and transformed into a Museum under the responsibility of the “National Institution of Researches and Studies El. Venizelos”, and granted by the Greek state.
The collection of the Museum consists of the complete household artifacts of the ethnarch, which he personally selected, from works of art, part of his library and his personal objects. Most impressive is his official car which he rode during an assassination attempt against his life. It also includes the collection of objects and records of the Institution, relative to the period, the action and the personality of Venizelos. Every room of the residence has maintained its authentic interior as it was when El.Venizelos used to live in.
